T.U.N.Z Grading Schedules- A guide to instructors
This section is divided in two parts- Colour Belts and Black Belts.
The T.U.N.Z grading schedules are designed for gradual progression through both the colour belt and black belt grades and they mark various levels of competence.
The completion of various colour belt grades signifies a students apprenticeship through the Grades from beginner, junior, intermediate and senior grades, then onto to the black belt grades.
The T.U.N.Z recommends that the minimum period of time training between Grades is four months at the beginner and junior colour belt levels. Note: exceptional students or those usually with previous martial arts experience may be competent enough to double grade at these levels.
At the intermediate colour belt level it is recommended that the minimum period of time training between Grades is four months. There should be no double grades at this level.
At the senior colour belt level it is recommended that the minimum period of time training between Red belt and testing for your black belt is one year. That is four months to get to black tab then eight months further training before testing for your black belt. There are no double grades at this level.
The gaining of a Black belt is viewed as the start of your journey in Taekwondo. The colour belt apprenticeship gives you the basic tools to go on training the black belt training allows you to go on and master Taekwondo.
